HUGE AGREEMENT: 76ers on a mission to bring another key man for $35 Million contract
According to Michael A. Scotto of the HoopsHype podcast, OG Anunoby could earn at least $35 million during free agency. Scotto mentioned that Anunoby’s minimum expectation is $35 million, with his maximum being a max contract. The 76ers might be interested in Anunoby if they cannot acquire Paul George, which would add competition for the Knicks.
“The league-wide expectation is that OG Anunoby will return to the Knicks. The question is, for how much? From executives I’ve talked to around the league, Anunoby’s floor appears to be $35 million, and his ceiling is a max contract.”
“Philadelphia will be looking for a 3-and-D small forward and has the max cap space to make the offer if they believe they’ll miss out on their top target, Paul George. Two general managers told me they’d pay Anunoby $35 million annually, though his injury history makes a max contract challenging.”

Anunoby joined the Knicks last season after being traded and became a crucial 3-and-D player for them. Despite struggling with injuries during the regular season, he performed well, averaging 14.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.4 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game.
In the playoffs, his numbers improved to 15.1 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.9 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game. A max contract offer, around $42-$45 million, might tempt Anunoby, and the 76ers could potentially offer him the max if they fail to secure their primary targets.
Will The 76ers Steal Anunoby This Year?
OG Anunoby was a target for the 76ers last season before the Knicks successfully traded for him from the Raptors. The Knicks value Anunoby highly and are eager to retain him. He holds a $19.9 million player option, which many expect him to decline in favor of entering free agency.
The Knicks are expected to re-sign Anunoby unless something unexpected happens. However, the 76ers could potentially disrupt these plans. Philadelphia is considering Paul George and Jimmy Butler to enhance their roster, but if they fail to acquire these stars, they could offer Anunoby a substantial contract.
While the Knicks will strive to keep Anunoby, they might hesitate to offer him a max contract due to the impact it would have on their cap space, which they could use to sign another star or strengthen their roster with additional role players.
Anunoby has remained tight-lipped about his future, not revealing any details that could affect his negotiating position. Regardless of where he ends up, Anunoby is poised to secure a lucrative new contract.
