BREAKING: 5-star decommit from Ohio State
In recruitment, it’s advisable to observe a recruit’s actions and timing, and on Tuesday, Ohio State football experienced success with this approach. Isaiah Gibson, a defensive end from Georgia in the 2025 class, commenced his official visit to Ohio State. Shortly after his visit began, the 6-foot, 4-inch, 245-pound pass rusher withdrew his commitment from USC. This sequence of events strongly suggests a positive outcome for Ohio State.

The timing of Gibson’s decision is not coincidental. As the nation’s 36th overall prospect and 2nd-ranked edge rusher, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, his choice was made during his tour of Columbus. According to the 247Sports Rankings, Gibson is even higher, ranked at No. 17, earning him a 5-star status.
Currently, Ohio State has commitments in the 2025 class from Zahir Mathis and London Merritt in the same position. However, they could potentially secure commitments from two or even three more players, particularly on the defensive line.
