COMMIT: Oklahoma lands another top WR who is greater than their current WR
The ‘ChampU BBQ’ at Oklahoma has become one of the most significant annual recruiting events of the summer, recognized as a time when the Sooners secure their top prospects. This year’s event saw a major success as Emmanuel Choice announced his commitment to OU via social media.
Choice’s commitment brings Oklahoma’s 2025 recruiting class to 17 members. He is the ninth offensive recruit and the fourth wide receiver in the current cycle. Choice selected the Sooners over Texas A&M, TCU, Missouri, Nebraska, and other schools.
According to the 247Sports Composite Player Rankings, Choice is ranked as the No. 411 overall recruit in the 2025 class. The three-star prospect is also ranked as the No. 66 wide receiver nationally and the No. 62 player in Texas. In the 247Sports Network’s specific rankings, Choice is listed as the No. 113 wide receiver in the country and the No. 128 prospect in Texas.
Choice stands out with his impressive frame, measuring around 6-foot-4 and 195 pounds. In the 2023 season, he recorded 38 receptions for 562 yards and six touchdowns, averaging just over 14 yards per catch. He also competes in track and field, participating in the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles for Lancaster High.
On the football field, Choice exhibits a strong burst at the start of his routes, displaying a quickness uncommon for his size. He excels in jump ball situations, using his large frame and wingspan to create a wide catch radius, which is especially beneficial in the endzone. Choice has the potential to be a formidable run blocker due to his size, strength, and athleticism. He can quickly overpower defensive backs in off-coverage or smaller corners in the redzone and is effective in stretching the field vertically. However, he will need to improve his skills against press coverage, a development area that Oklahoma wide receivers coach Emmett Jones can assist with.
Jones, who gave Choice his first offer, adds him to an incoming receiver class that includes Elijah Thomas, Marcus Harris, and Gracen Harris. One of the Sooners’ top assistant coaches, Jones continues to strengthen the outlook for his receiver group.
“Jones gave me my first offer; he’s from the same place I’m from,” Choice told Sooners Illustrated. “He’s a hard coach but he loves you at the end of the day. He’s real, he’s real.”
Receiving his first offer from Jones and Oklahoma, Choice ends his recruitment by choosing the Sooners and the coach who believed in him from the start. It’s a fitting conclusion as he prepares to advance his career.
