McClary initially committed to Penn State but opted to change his commitment and stay local. A product of Henry Snyder High School in Jersey City, McClary had offers from prestigious programs like Ohio State, Michigan, Ole Miss, Oregon, Tennessee, USC, and others.
Currently a highly-regarded four-star recruit, McClary ranks 145th overall in ESPN’s 300 and is the fourth-ranked player in New Jersey for the Class of 2025.
During his three years at Snyder, McClary has been exceptional. In his junior year, he showcased his versatility with 95 tackles, including 15 for loss, along with two sacks and a forced fumble on defense. On offense, he amassed 1,420 rushing yards and scored 19 touchdowns, while also throwing for 795 yards and seven touchdowns.
Rutgers’ Class of 2025 has surged to 28 commitments, leading the nation in volume. It ranks among the top 10 classes nationwide and is expanding steadily.
Under Greg Schiano’s leadership, Rutgers is successfully retaining local talent. Recently, John Forster from St. Joseph Regional in Montvale became the third New Jersey commit in a week. Offensive lineman Jaelyne Matthews held the highest rating among Rutgers’ recruits at the time of his commitment. Additionally, the Scarlet Knights secured a commitment from Michael Thomas III, a wide receiver from Donovan Catholic.
