BREAKING NEWS: Georgia Bulldogs Confirms Another 5-Star Commitment
The Bulldogs have secured one of their highest-ranked in-state targets shortly after he decommitted from USC. Isaiah Gibson, a 5-star EDGE from Warner Robins, Georgia, has announced his commitment to the University of Georgia, continuing the Bulldogs’ streak of good news with in-state 5-stars.
Despite his surprising pledge to USC in the spring, Gibson has been a top target for Georgia throughout the recruitment cycle. Last week, he announced his decision to back off his commitment to the Trojans. Georgia quickly capitalized on this development, with Gibson committing to the Bulldogs on Monday after a pop-up visit to Athens marking the start of the dead period.
“Athens is just great. I feel like, to me, Athens is unmatched,” Gibson told Dawgs247 earlier this spring. “Football, outside of football, they meet every criteria for me.”
Gibson’s commitment comes after three visits to Georgia since mid-May. He attended a scavenger hunt in Athens and returned a couple of weeks later for his official visit. Gibson had originally planned to take an official visit to Oklahoma last weekend but canceled it in favor of an unofficial trip to Georgia.
The Bulldogs maintained their pursuit of the 6-foot-5, 250-pound EDGE, even after his spring commitment to USC. Georgia’s coaching staff, including Coach Smart, Coach Schumann, Coach Diribe, and Coach Scott, reached out immediately after Gibson’s commitment to USC, promising to stay in touch until the end.

“Honestly, after I committed, Coach Smart texted me one minute after I committed. Coach Smart, Coach Schumann, Coach Diribe, Coach Scott, everybody was like they’re going to be there until the end,” Gibson said. “They were just saying they were going to be there until the end.”
Gibson’s affinity for the Bulldogs remained strong throughout the process. “It’s just been amazing energy since I stepped in the building. Coach Diribe, the energy was there from Day 1,” he said. “It was everything about Georgia, I really did like.”
Listed as an EDGE or defensive lineman at various points in his recruitment, Gibson has always been recruited as an EDGE by Georgia, with Chidera Uzo-Diribe as his lead recruiter. Gibson is ranked as the No. 1 EDGE in the country according to the 247Sports recruiting rankings and the No. 17 overall prospect in the nation.
“They see me playing on the EDGE. I love the overall personality of Coach Diribe,” Gibson said. “We’ve built up the relationship over time, and Coach Diribe and I got really close.”
With Gibson’s commitment, Georgia remains at No. 4 in the recruiting team rankings but closes the gap on No. 3 Notre Dame. Gibson is the Bulldogs’ 15th pledge in the 2025 class.
