Mind blowing: Aaron Judge issues stern challenge to Yankees after loss to Mets
Aaron Judge knows the Yankees need to improve on their performance against the Mets to succeed. Despite Gerrit Cole’s subpar pitching, the New York Yankees endured a tough 9-7 loss to the New York Mets on Tuesday. As the Yankees prepare for their next game, Judge aims to avoid repeating the same mistakes.
The Yankees fell behind with a six-run deficit in the first four innings and entered the eighth down 9-2. They rallied back, scoring five runs in the eighth, highlighted by a massive home run from Judge, reducing the Mets’ lead to two. However, the ninth inning saw no further runs from either team.
Judge recognized that the Yankees had opportunities to make a comeback but couldn’t capitalize. Looking ahead to their Wednesday game against the Mets, Judge emphasized the importance of maintaining their approach, as shared with the Yes Network.
“We need to treat every inning like it’s zero-zero,” Judge stated. “Regardless of what happens early in the game, we have to continue with quality at-bats. We missed some opportunities early on, and we need to come out with a win tomorrow.”
Despite having Cole on the mound, the Yankees’ chances were dashed as he lasted only four innings, giving up six runs and seven hits, walking four, and striking out none. This was just Cole’s second start of the year following an elbow injury that delayed his 2024 season. Judge remains confident in Cole, insisting on his regular appearances.
“He’s our ace, that’s our guy. I want him out there every five days,” Judge affirmed. “Games like this happen; we just have to move on and learn from it. He’ll be fine.”
Despite the loss, the Yankees still lead the AL East with a 52-29 record. However, Judge is determined to ensure the Yankees’ struggles don’t persist.
Aaron Judge pushing for second MVP
Despite the loss, Judge made a significant impact against the Mets with a crucial three-run home run that offered the Yankees a glimmer of hope. It was part of an outstanding performance for the outfielder, who went 2-for-5 with five RBIs. As the Yankees continue their dominant season—excluding Tuesday’s game—Judge has been a key factor.
Through 79 games, Judge is batting .304 with 29 home runs and 75 RBIs, leading the league in both home runs and RBIs. His batting average ranks ninth, and he also leads the American League in doubles.
Judge’s offensive prowess is well-known among Yankee fans and baseball enthusiasts alike. Since his first full season in 2017, Judge has been a powerhouse in the majors, boasting a .283 batting average with 286 home runs and 647 RBIs over 914 games. He’s a five-time All-Star, a former Rookie of the Year, and an MVP.
However, Judge isn’t dwelling on past achievements, especially after Tuesday’s game. Instead, the Yankees’ star is focused on the future, aiming for continued success and a brighter outlook for the team.
