On Sunday, Angel Reese had the best performance of her young WNBA career when the Chicago Sky defeated the Indiana Fever by a final score of 88-87. This victory was notable as it marked Reese’s first win over Caitlin Clark since their matchup in the 2023 NCAA Women’s Basketball National Championship between the LSU Tigers and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

In this game, Reese recorded her eighth-straight double-double, setting a WNBA rookie record and marking the fourth-most consecutive double-doubles ever by any player. She scored a career-high 25 points and grabbed 16 rebounds.

On Monday, just one day after the Reese vs. Clark clash, Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson spoke to the media about Reese and gave an honest review of her performance. Wilson said, “It’s huge. I feel like I said it around the Super Bowl. I was just like that is going to be Angel’s biggest thing: translation.’ Translating over from college to the pros is just rebounding the basketball. She has a knack for it and that’s not what a lot of people have. So, it’s pretty cool to kind of see her flourish in that situation and flourish in life.”

Reese is averaging 11.1 rebounds per game, the second-most in the WNBA, behind Wilson, who is averaging 11.6.

Wilson continued, “I know there’s a lot that could be on her. A lot that could be around her, but she still comes in and is consistent for her team. So that’s huge. You don’t see that in a lot of rookies. I’m grateful that she’s doing that in her own journey and in her own way.”

Reese and the Sky will host Wilson and the Aces on Thursday, June 27, at 7:00 PM EST. This will be the first time the two teams meet in the 2024 season.
