One of the nation’s top wide receivers is set to make his decision in early August. The Longhorns have been actively pursuing several elite wide receiver prospects this cycle, and it appears the dominoes are about to start falling.

This evening, five-star Sachse (TX) wide receiver announced that he will make his commitment on August 7th, choosing between Alabama, Florida State, LSU, Texas, and Texas A&M.

Kaliq Lockett - Hudl

Lockett is ranked as the third-best wide receiver prospect in the country according to 247Sports’ composite rankings and is 17th overall by the same metrics. Steve Sarkisian and his staff have been ardently pursuing Lockett along with Dakorien Moore and Jaime Ffrench, and it seems all three could make their decisions at different points in August.

Lockett is coming off an impressive junior season with 59 receptions for 1,299 yards and 13 touchdowns, solidifying his status among the nation’s top wide receivers. The big question now is whether he, Moore, and Ffrench will choose to join forces in Austin, potentially forming one of the highest-ranked wide receiver trios to sign with a single school.

The competition for Lockett has been intense, with all finalist schools receiving official visits, and Texas getting the last visit last weekend. Schools have just over a month left to make their final pitches to the five-star receiver, and we will see how everything unfolds on August 7th.
