JUST IN: Top rated star depart from Auburn
Auburn’s 2025 class has now seen two decommitments this week.
Tyler Lockhart, a 4-star linebacker who committed to the Tigers in early April, announced on social media that he is withdrawing his commitment from Hugh Freeze’s program. The Mississippi native recently took an official visit to Mississippi State, where his brother plays. Lockhart currently has two 247Sports Crystal Balls predicting his commitment to Mississippi State.
Despite an official visit to Auburn earlier this month, Lockhart stated that Mississippi State is the only program still in contention. “It’s just Mississippi State,” he confirmed.
Lockhart, a top-150 player overall and the No. 17 linebacker in his class, made a surprising commitment to Auburn with a late-night announcement in May.
Earlier this week, 4-star offensive tackle Carde Smith also decommitted from Auburn.
Despite these losses, Auburn’s 2025 class remains ranked in the top 10 and aims to make significant gains at Big Cat Weekend next month.
