Michigan football welcome top rated star
The Michigan football recruiting BBQ will undergo changes in the future due to new recruiting rules. Starting next July, the period will be designated as a dead period. Currently, July mostly functions as a dead period except for the final weekend, traditionally when Michigan football hosts its recruiting BBQ.
This July, however, the Wolverines will host the event once more, promising to be a high-profile occasion for Michigan football. They are already making efforts to bring in top-tier prospects from the 2026 class, led by Brady Hart, their committed quarterback for 2026.
Hart is set to return to campus for the Michigan Recruiting BBQ, where he will be joined by two highly ranked running backs from the 2026 class.
Two elite backs in 2026 to visit Michigan football
Savion Hiter, ranked as the No. 3 running back in the 2026 class by On3 Industry rankings, stands at 5-foot-11 and weighs 190 pounds. His upcoming visit to Michigan football in July for the BBQ will mark his second trip to Ann Arbor.
Michigan has been effective in recruiting from Virginia, and Hiter, who has also visited Ohio State and Georgia twice in 2024, considers these schools along with Michigan football as significant contenders. Virginia currently leads according to On3’s prediction machine.
Additionally, Javion Osborne, ranked 56th overall in the 2026 class by On3, is expected to visit for the BBQ, as reported by EJ Holland of The Wolverine. Osborne, a 5-foot-10, 175-pound running back from Texas, has yet to visit Michigan. Texas, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma are also in the mix, but his visit to Michigan for the BBQ signals positive interest.
