REPORT: Chicago Sky fans are very upset for non-basketball reasons after team cut Angel Reese’s teammate
Kysre Gondrezick became a fan favorite, largely due to her looks. Midseason roster changes are common in every major sports league, so it wasn’t unusual to see the Chicago Sky make a move to trim their roster on Friday. However, the front office likely didn’t anticipate the backlash they received for this particular transaction.
The team waived Gondrezick midway through her first season with them. She had only played 16 minutes across 16 games for the Sky. From a basketball perspective, the move made sense; Gondrezick, despite being the 4th overall pick by the Indiana Fever in 2021, hadn’t made a significant impact in her WNBA career.

Despite the logical basis for the move, many fans were upset by the news because they found her very attractive.

While Gondrezick deals with the tough news, she at least has a high-profile boyfriend to lean on—she has been rumored to be dating Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown for some time and was seen with him during the Celtics’ championship parade last week.

It remains to be seen if Gondrezick will be picked up by another team, but it wouldn’t be surprising if this marked the end of her WNBA career, given her limited impact thus far.
