On Friday evening, Darius Afalava, a highly regarded offensive lineman from Skyridge High School in Utah, announced his commitment to Oklahoma. He is ranked as the No. 230 overall prospect and the No. 25 interior offensive lineman in the 2025 recruiting class according to Rivals. Afalava made his decision after considering offers from Utah, Washington, and Michigan State, which were his top choices earlier this month.

During his recruitment process, Afalava visited Michigan State and Utah before taking an official visit to Norman on the weekend of June 7. He also visited Washington recently. Despite the Huskies being his final visit, new head coach Jedd Fisch and his staff were unable to secure a commitment from the Lehi, UT native.

Afalava initially visited Norman during OU’s spring game in late April, where he had the opportunity to meet with several Oklahoma commits and prospects. He received an offer from Oklahoma offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh and his staff during this initial visit.

Darius Afalava, standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 320 pounds, brings impressive size and power to the interior offensive line, fitting well into the Sooners’ offensive scheme.

He becomes the third scholarship player to join Coach Bill Bedenbaugh’s recruiting class of 2025, alongside center Owen Hollenbeck from Melissa, TX (3-star) and offensive tackle Ryan Fodje from Bridgeland, TX (4-star).

Earlier in the week, center Sean Hutton from Lewisville, TX committed to Oklahoma as a preferred walk-on.

Afalava’s addition strengthens Oklahoma’s offensive line, crucial for protecting quarterback Kevin Sperry from Denton Guyer, TX (4-star), and running back Tory Blaylock from Atascocita, TX (4-star).

Overall, Afalava is the 19th player to commit to Oklahoma in the 2025 recruiting cycle. Before his commitment, Oklahoma already held the No. 5 recruiting class in the nation as per 247Sports.

Looking ahead, Oklahoma remains in contention for additional recruits such as Lamont Rogers, a lineman from Mesquite Horn, TX, and Michael Fasusi, a 5-star prospect from Lewisville, TX, which could further bolster their offensive line group for 2025.
