The Sooners continue their strong momentum on the recruiting trail as July begins, with Cortez Mills announcing his commitment to Oklahoma football via social media.

Mills is the 20th member of OU’s 2025 class, becoming the 11th offensive commit and the fifth wide receiver in this cycle. He chose the Sooners over Clemson, LSU, Miami, and Nebraska.

“When I visited in the spring, coach Jones and I had a great connection,” Mills told 247Sports National Analyst Tom Loy. “He seemed like the best person to develop me and prepare me for the next level. My official visit sealed the deal. Everyone was comfortable there, and my family knew I was comfortable there.”

According to the 247Sports Composite Player Rankings, Mills is ranked as the No. 84 overall recruit in the 2025 class, the No. 11 wide receiver nationally, and a top-12 player in Florida. In the 247Sports Network’s specific rankings, Mills is listed as the No. 196 overall prospect, the No. 21 wideout in the country, and a top-25 player in Florida.

COMMIT: Oklahoma football lands elite 2025 wide receiver Cortez Mills

Standing at 6-foot-1 and 170 pounds, Mills was the leading receiver as a junior for a Homestead program that competed for a Florida 3M title. He recorded 79 receptions, totaling 1,640 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns, earning him a Miami Herald All-Dade 4M-3M selection after the 2023 season. Mills has also been selected to play in the 2025 All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas.

Mills received his offer from the Sooners in January and took his first visit to Oklahoma in March, attending the Sooners’ spring game weekend. From then on, OU football became a major presence in his recruitment.

While Clemson made a strong push for Mills, a return visit to OU for his official visit solidified his decision. With his commitment, Oklahoma now ranks back in the top five of the 2025 recruiting class rankings.

Mills joins an impressive group of wide receivers in this top-five class, including Marcus Harris, Elijah Thomas, Gracen Harris, and Emmanuel Choice. This group actively recruited Mills to join them, contributing to one of the elite wideout hauls of the 2025 cycle.

Mills’ commitment marks a strong start to July for the Sooners, setting off early fireworks as they enter what many consider ‘commit season’ with impressive momentum.
