BREAKING: Alabama Lands Elite Edge Rusher in 2025 Class
The Crimson Tide has reached 22 commits in the 2025 recruiting cycle, continuing their strong recruiting efforts this summer.
Alabama added another 4-star prospect to its 2025 class, securing edge rusher Justin Hill over Ohio State, who was heavily favored to land the Ohio native.
This commitment brings Alabama to 22 commits in the 2025 cycle, with many of these commitments coming since the summer began. The Alabama recruiting staff, led by general manager Courtney Morgan, has themed this period as ‘cold summer.’
Hill is set to play the ‘Wolf’ position at Alabama, a hybrid edge rusher/outside linebacker role that can both rush the passer and drop into coverage. This position is part of new defensive coordinator Kane Wommack’s 4-2-5 defensive scheme, differing from Nick Saban’s previous defensive setups.

According to 27Sports composite rankings, Hill is the fifth-highest ranked recruit in Alabama’s 2025 class. The Crimson Tide’s class currently includes two 5-stars, cornerback Dijon Lee and linebacker Darrell Johnson, and six additional 4-stars, all of whom are ranked in the top 100 nationally, including Hill.
Alabama remains in pursuit of several elite 2025 prospects as Kalen DeBoer’s summer recruiting tear continues. These targets include 5-star wide receivers Kaliq Lockett and Caleb Cunningham, 5-star offensive tackle Ty Haywood, and others.
Alabama currently holds the No. 2 ranked recruiting class in the country during DeBoer’s first full cycle as head coach. If they secure a few more favored prospects, there’s a solid chance this class could ultimately be ranked No. 1.
