JUST IN: Alabama football lands latest commit for 2025 to a huge agreement
The influx of talent into Alabama football’s 2025 recruiting class shows no signs of stopping. On Tuesday, Kalen DeBoer secured a four-star commitment in his first full cycle as the Crimson Tide’s head coach.
Tight end Kaleb Edwards, who plays at Oak Ridge High School in California, announced his commitment to UA on social media with the help of Hayes Fawcett from On3 Sports.
He’s the first tight end commitment Alabama has secured for the 2025 class. According to the 247Sports composite, he is ranked as the No. 8 player at his position and the No. 159 prospect overall.
“Edwards is not just a hybrid big receiver but a legitimate tight end who can make plays in the passing game at all levels and is also an excellent in-line blocker,” wrote Greg Biggins, a national recruiting analyst for 247Sports. “He has strong hands, does well catching the ball through contact, and can easily separate from linebackers and safeties down the field. He runs well, has plenty of length, and has excellent body control.”
Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 240 pounds, Edwards caught 44 passes for 828 yards and seven touchdowns last season for Oak Ridge, according to MaxPreps.
Edwards is the 20th commitment in Alabama’s 2025 class. With his commitment, Alabama’s recruiting class remains ranked second in the nation, behind only Ohio State, according to the 247 composite.
He is Alabama’s second commitment from California in a week, joining Mission Viejo cornerback Dijon Lee. Edwards chose Alabama over a top six that included Auburn, Oregon, Texas, UCLA, and Washington.
