Breaking: 4-star DB commits to Georgia over Florida, Ole Miss
Georgia has secured a significant commitment from standout defensive recruit Jaylan Morgan. The 4-star safety from Rockvale, Tennessee, announced his decision on Monday, choosing the Bulldogs over Florida, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss. Morgan, who stands 6-foot and weighs 180 pounds, committed to Georgia after his final official visit from June 21-23.
Morgan revealed to Dawgs247 that he felt at home during his visit to Georgia and was impressed by the coaches and players. He particularly bonded with player-host Ondre Evans and was recruited by Donte Williams and co-defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson. During his visit, Morgan participated in an in-depth film session and defensive roster breakdown, which highlighted a clear path to playing time at Georgia.
Despite no guarantees of early playing time, Morgan is optimistic about his opportunities at Georgia. “It’s a great opportunity for me to play. Not saying I’m going to play early nor nothing. They didn’t give me no promises, but it’s a pretty good chance I can play early,” Morgan stated. “But I really just want to play football, and that seems like the best place for me to do it.”

Defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann compared Morgan to recent Bulldogs’ standout Javon Bullard, noting Morgan’s versatility and potential to play multiple positions in the defensive backfield. Morgan confirmed that he would likely play at the Star and free safety positions, with a possibility of strong safety as well.
Morgan is ranked as the nation’s No. 28 safety in the 247Sports recruiting rankings and the No. 7 player in Tennessee. He is also the No. 268-ranked prospect in the composite rankings.

With Morgan’s commitment, Georgia’s 2025 class now includes 19 commitments and holds a team score of 280.43, maintaining their position at No. 3 in the team rankings, just behind Ohio State and Alabama. The addition of Morgan follows the commitment of 4-star cornerback Shamari Earls, who flipped from South Carolina, and defensive back Todd Robinson, further strengthening Georgia’s defensive prospects for the future.
