Last month, Trevor Gibbs, a 2026 prospect from Crown Point High School in Indiana, received his first Big Ten offer from Indiana University’s football program. The 6-foot-3, 230-pound linebacker shared his thoughts with Peegs.com about his interest in the Hoosiers.

Indiana extended the offer to Gibbs after observing him at one of their summer camps in June. Gibbs mentioned that several aspects of the Hoosiers stood out to him during his visit.

“I like the energy that they bring as a team,” Gibbs said about IU’s program. “I also like the connection they have as a team.”

Gibbs noted that the Hoosiers’ coaching staff emphasized their desire to keep top in-state players like him at the state school.

“The message from the coaches is they want me to stay in-state,” he said.

As Gibbs begins to receive more offers and attention from other football programs, he mentioned key factors he will consider in choosing a school.

“A big factor for me is making sure I get developed into the best player I can be,” Gibbs said. “I also want to make sure I get a good degree and the campus life is good.”

Gibbs and his Crown Point teammates had an impressive 2023 season, finishing 13-1 and reaching the Class 6A State Championship. This fall, their goal is to win the state title.

“We did pretty good last year, but we didn’t get the job done and that’s something we are focused on doing this year,” he said about his sophomore campaign. “Individually, I think I improved the most on being a smarter player.”

Gibbs has offers from Indiana, Cincinnati, Ball State, Miami (OH), and Western Michigan, along with interest from Purdue and Toledo. He said that IU is in a good position with him after offering the scholarship.

“They are pretty strong with me,” he said about Indiana. “I’m still just trying to build a relationship with the coaches.”
