Alabama secured a 5-star football recruit for the second consecutive day on Sunday with the commitment of offensive lineman from Ryan High School in Denton, Texas.

Haywood, standing at 6-foot-5 and 285 pounds, becomes the Crimson Tide’s 22nd verbal commitment for 2025 and their fifth composite 5-star prospect in head coach Kalen DeBoer’s first full recruiting class. This follows the commitment of 5-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham of Ackerman, Mississippi, who announced his decision on Saturday.

Ranked as the No. 11 overall player and No. 2 offensive tackle in the country by 247Sports’ composite rankings, Haywood had offers from prestigious programs including LSU, Miami, and Michigan. He is also notable for his achievements in shot put and discus in high school.

Gabe Brooks, a recruiting analyst for 247Sports, described Haywood as “simultaneously stout and long-armed, casting an imposing figure on the field while possessing more frame potential.” Brooks noted Haywood’s significant arm and wingspan, his progress during his junior season, and his at-the-snap suddenness and explosion.

Haywood’s high-level movement, quick feet, quick hands, and anchoring ability were highlighted as well, along with his drive-blocking and block-finishing capabilities.

Haywood is the second 5-star recruit from Texas to join Alabama in this recruiting cycle, alongside Duncanville quarterback Keelon Russell. Other 5-star recruits in Alabama’s 2025 class include California cornerback Dijon Lee and Georgia linebacker Darrell “Duke” Johnson.

Alabama’s 2025 class now includes five offensive linemen: Haywood, 4-star guard/center Michael Carroll from Doylestown, Pennsylvania, 4-star tackles Jackson Lloyd from Carmel, California, and Micah DeBose from Vigor, and 3-star tackle Mal Waldrep from Central Phenix City. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Alabama’s overall class is currently ranked No. 2 nationally, behind only Ohio State.
