Texas basketball is actively pursuing Isiah Harwell, a 5-star shooting guard from Pocatello (ID) Wasatch Academy, who is the top recruit at his position in the 2025 class according to the 247Sports Composite. Harwell is expected to make his final official visit to Texas before announcing his decision in mid-September, just ahead of the Early Signing Period in November.
5-Star SG priority Isiah Harwell taking a late-summer official visit to Texas basketball
Isiah Harwell, the top shooting guard recruit in the nation for the class of 2025 according to On3’s Jaime Shaw, will be taking official visits to Texas and Houston in late August and early September. His visit to Houston with head coach Kelvin Sampson is scheduled for August 22-25, followed by an official visit to Texas from August 30 to September 1. This marks his final set of official visits to his four finalist schools, which also include Gonzaga and Cal.
Texas has been proactive in their recruitment of Harwell, leveraging their pursuit of 2024 five-star shooting guard recruit Tre Johnson to bolster their appeal to Harwell at the shooting guard position.
Isiah Harwell shared about his relationship with Texas, stating, “We got a good relationship. Brandon Chappell came down to Wasatch a couple of times and we just kicked it. He came down to practice, took that L when he shot with us, and we had a good time. They call non-stop and text non-stop, so we are always talking. They play fast, they’re an up-and-down team, and I like playing that way.”
