Georgia has secured another significant defensive commitment for its 2025 recruiting class, as blue-chip safety has joined the Bulldogs.

On Sunday night, the South Sumter (Fla.) safety chose Georgia over Penn State and Texas A&M after completing his official visits. Johnson, who visited Louisville, Penn State, Georgia, and Texas A&M in June, said he knew Georgia was the right choice during his visit. “It just felt like home,” he told Dawgs247. “It’s the standard of everything. I want to get coached by the best.”

Initially, Johnson had planned to visit UCF but adjusted his schedule to accommodate Georgia, attending their official visit weekend from June 14-16. After visiting Texas A&M the following week and discussing his options with his parents, he finalized his decision and informed the coaches of his choice.

Penn State finished second in his recruitment. Johnson cited his relationship with Georgia’s new co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach, Travaris Robinson, as a key factor. “With T-Rob, I want to get coached by the best. He’s done his thing in the past. I feel like I can come in and do my thing with him,” Johnson said.

During his visit to Georgia, Johnson spent time with player-host Joenel Aguero. Robinson, along with secondary recruiter Donte Williams, told Johnson they envision him playing either Star or free safety.

Johnson joins a 2025 defensive backfield at Georgia that includes 4-star commits Todd Robinson, Shamari Earls, and Jaylan Morgan. With Johnson’s commitment, Georgia now has 20 pledges for the Class of 2025, bringing their class total to 283.77, extending their lead over Oregon for the No. 3 spot in the recruiting team rankings behind Ohio State and Alabama.

Johnson is ranked as the No. 24 safety in the nation and the No. 33 prospect in Florida, according to the 247Sports recruiting team rankings.
