DEAL DONE: Arkansas confirm 5 star commitment
On Saturday afternoon, Arkansas secured its eighth football commitment for the Class of 2025 when offensive tackle Blake Cherry from Owasso, Oklahoma, announced his decision to join the Razorbacks. Cherry, standing 6-5 and weighing 295 pounds, chose Arkansas over offers from schools such as Texas A&M, Nebraska, Minnesota, Arizona State, Kansas State, Boston College, and Kansas. He is the second commitment of the day for Arkansas, following Parkview three-star athlete Quentin Murphy, who also committed on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Cherry, who is currently unranked by 247Sports, had visited Fayetteville unofficially in late January and plans to take an official visit next weekend from June 14-16. With Cherry’s commitment, Arkansas’s recruiting class, previously ranked 53rd nationally, moved up to 45th. The Razorbacks’ class now includes commitments from Maumelle quarterback Grayson Wilson, Atlanta running back Markeylin Batton, West Palm Beach wide receiver Kamare Williams, Dallas linebacker Jayden Shelton, Mobile safety Taijh Overton, and Bay St. Louis kicker Evan Noel.
Cherry was recruited by first-year offensive line coach Eric Mateos. Arkansas’s current roster includes 13 offensive linemen, with several notable changes: Beaux Limmer was drafted into the NFL, Brady Latham did not return as a super senior, Cole Carson is graduating early, Terry Wells and Eli Henderson are on medical hardship, and Andrew Chamblee left the team and entered the transfer portal. The Razorbacks have added four players from the transfer portal and are likely to seek additional talent.
This weekend, Arkansas is hosting 12 official visitors, including four-star linebacker Tavion Wallace, four-star athlete Kelshaun Johnson, four-star defensive lineman Kevin Oatis, and several three-star prospects across various positions.
HawgSports will provide further updates on Cherry’s commitment and its implications for the Razorbacks’ roster.
