Before his hamstring injury, Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene was having a successful season. He had a .264 batting average, 17 home runs, 51 RBIs, and 98 hits. His 17 home runs lead the team. This injury is a significant setback for the Tigers, who are trying to push for a Wild Card spot after a successful series against the struggling Toronto Blue Jays. Injuries have been a constant issue for the Tigers, as well as many other MLB teams, this season.

Greene ranks in the top five for OPS in the American League at .842, which contributed to his first All-Star selection, boosting the confidence of the 23-year-old from Orlando, Florida. He also hit the 100-game mark for the first time on July 24th. His growth each year has been notable: in his first season with the Tigers, he hit four home runs, followed by 11 last season, and already 17 this season just into the second half.
