Oklahoma football will welcome several prospects from the 2026 and 2027 cycles, with arrivals starting today. As the 2025 recruiting cycle winds down, focus shifts to these upcoming classes.
One standout prospect is James Carrington, nicknamed ‘Tank.’ He is one of the best in America and is set to be in Norman starting today.
According to the 247Sports Composite Player Rankings, Carrington is ranked No. 35 overall in the 2026 class. He is a high four-star talent, a top-two defensive lineman nationally, and the top-ranked player in Nevada. The 247Sports Network specifically ranks him as the No. 34 overall prospect, a top-three defensive lineman nationally, and a top-two player in Nevada.
247Sports scouting report, courtesy of Greg Biggins, describes Carrington: “He flashes a rare combination of quickness and power on tape. At 6-2, 255 pounds, with an 80″ wingspan, he has a quick first step and can overpower high school linemen. He can play inside and outside, but his future is likely as an interior defensive lineman in college. Carrington needs to develop counters and refine his technique, but his raw physical gifts give him a high ceiling. It’s clear why he’s been a national recruit since his freshman year.”
Carrington will visit Oklahoma today, Thursday, July 25th, and then head to Oregon on July 27th. The Sooners have a prime opportunity to impress one of the nation’s top rising prospects.
