ICYMI: five-star QB confirms commits to LSU over Alabama, NC State and Tennessee
Greensboro (N.C.) Grimsley five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon, the top prospect in the 2026 college football recruiting class, will announce his commitment on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET on the 247Sports YouTube channel. The 6-foot-3 1/2, 197-pound player is choosing between Alabama, LSU, NC State, and Tennessee.
Initially, Brandon planned to decide after his junior season, but the fast-paced nature of quarterback commitments accelerated his timeline. “I’ve visited all the schools I’m really interested in enough times to know where I want to go,” Brandon told 247Sports. “I’m excited for Saturday, maybe a little nervous, but mostly excited.”
Besides his top four choices, Brandon also visited Florida State, Georgia, and Penn State last spring. However, these schools received commitments from other quarterbacks in the 2026 class around the same time.
In late June, 247Sports visited Grimsley High School, where Brandon revealed his top four schools and the reasons for his choices. Each of these schools has been competing for a return visit from Brandon since the late-July recruiting dead period ended.
