Breaking: Former Alabama Football Player Dies After Getting Hit By Car In A Tragic Story
Former Alabama football player Terrance Howard passed away last week from injuries sustained when he was struck by a vehicle in North Carolina, according to multiple reports.
Howard, a Texas native who joined the Crimson Tide as a walk-on in 2023, transferred to North Carolina Central during the offseason. He was moving his belongings from Alabama to North Carolina when the accident occurred, his mother told Houston’s KHOU-11 TV.
Alabama football coach Kalen DeBoer addressed Howard’s death at the start of his press conference on Sunday in Tuscaloosa.
“Before I comment on the team, I want to send our thoughts and prayers,” DeBoer said. “Terrance Howard, who was with us and transferred to North Carolina Central, passed away. He has teammates here who were close to him. We send our prayers and thoughts to his family.”

Howard was involved in a minor traffic accident near Salisbury, N.C. After getting out of his car to check on the other driver, a third car struck him, critically injuring him, according to KPRC TV in Houston.
Howard was hospitalized with critical injuries in Charlotte, where he later died. Without identification at the time of the wreck, it took several days to notify his family.
Howard did not play in any games for Alabama as a true freshman defensive back in 2023 but traveled with the team to the Rose Bowl College Football Playoff semifinal. He was reportedly set to receive a full scholarship at North Carolina Central, an HBCU school in Durham.
The Alabama Crimson Tide football team faces the challenge of persevering after the recent death of one of their former players.
According to KPRC 2, 19-year-old defensive back Terrance Howard was struck by a vehicle last Monday and passed away on August 1 after fighting for his life for several days.
The incident occurred near Salisbury, North Carolina, during a storm. Howard was involved in a minor car accident and got out of his vehicle to check on the other people involved. As he turned back around, he was hit by a passing vehicle.
Howard sustained massive brain trauma and was placed on a ventilator for several days before his passing.
Formerly a walk-on athlete at Alabama, Howard had recently transferred to North Carolina Central University, where he planned to compete as a track athlete in addition to playing football.
Howard’s grieving family is now seeking to raise $50,000 to cover medical bills, the transfer of his body, and funeral expenses. As of this writing, their GoFundMe page has raised over $46,000 of the $50,000 goal.
