The Texas Longhorns are in the running for one of the nation’s top defensive line prospects, and his commitment date has now been announced. August will be a busy month for the Longhorns.
In addition to anticipated announcements from five five-star recruits—athlete Michael Terry III, receivers Kaliq Lockett and Jaime Ffrench, safety Jonah Williams, and offensive tackle Michael Fasusi—the recruitment battles for several key targets are also coming to a close.

One of these key targets is four-star defensive tackle DJ Sanders from Bellville, TX, who remains a high-priority recruit for Texas.
The good news for the Longhorns is that they won’t have to wait long to discover Sanders’ decision. According to On Texas Football, the 6-foot-4, 325-pound tackle will reveal his choice on August 8.
Currently, Sanders is ranked as a consensus four-star recruit, standing as the No. 79 player nationally, the No. 8 defensive lineman, and the No. 14 player in Texas according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

Last season, Sanders was a dominant force at Bellville, accumulating 115 tackles, 28 tackles for loss, 15 sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble returns for touchdowns, and a safety.
As a sophomore in 2022, he recorded 58 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and five sacks, earning the Texas 10-4A Division 2 Defensive MVP title.
Sanders has been a varsity player since his freshman year in 2021, amassing a notable career total of 59 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss, and 9.5 sacks.
