Report: Yankees provide Trent Grisham update after injury scare

The team announced on social media that Grisham sustained a left hand contusion after being struck by a pitch from Rangers reliever Brock Burke in the fourth inning. Grisham was taken out of the game and replaced in the lineup by third baseman Oswaldo Cabrera. Jazz Chisholm shifted from third base to center field to cover for Grisham defensively.

The Yankees went on to shut out the Rangers 8-0 in the first game of the doubleheader. Aaron Judge contributed three hits, scored twice, and drove in a run, while catcher Austin Wells added two hits and four RBIs to lead the Yankees to victory.

Carlos Rodon sets the tone for Yankees on the mound

Carlos Rodon held the Rangers in check for 5.2 innings, allowing three hits, five walks, and six strikeouts. Reliever Ron Marinaccio followed with 2.1 scoreless frames, and Tim Hill finished with a clean ninth inning.

Grisham has demonstrated strong defensive abilities in centerfield for the Yankees in his first year with the club. He has struggled on the attacking end all season. Grisham’s batting line is.191/.294/.382, but he has seven home runs and 24 RBIs.
