As the Miami Dolphins enter Week 4 of training camp, concerns have emerged regarding the depth at outside linebacker. The situation was first impacted when Shaq Barrett retired before camp even began. Compounding the issue, the Dolphins have had to depend heavily on two rookies to shoulder the workload throughout camp. Additionally, three players have been unable to practice as they continue to recover from season-ending injuries, including a former first-round pick.

The Miami Dolphins young EDGE rusher suffered a significant injury on Black Friday

Jaelan Phillips sustained an Achilles injury in the fourth quarter of the Dolphins’ Week 12 matchup against the New York Jets, leading to a devastating blow to their pass rush. He was carted off the field by the medical staff, and an MRI later confirmed the torn Achilles.

Phillips spent the entire offseason focused on rehabilitation, missing all offseason workouts and spring practices. As a result, the Dolphins placed him on the active/PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list before the start of training camp, causing him to miss the first three weeks of camp.
