DEAL DONE: Seattle Mariners agreed on $9.75 million, two-year contract with an option for 2027 with outfielder
The Seattle Mariners and outfielder Victor Robles have agreed to a $9.75 million, two-year deal, ensuring his place on the team through the 2026 season.
“Victor has brought tremendous energy and has been a perfect fit in our clubhouse since he joined the Mariners,” Seattle general manager Justin Hollander said in a statement. “He has proven to be impactful in every aspect of the game, and we’re excited to have him with us for at least two more years.”
The deal includes a $9 million option for 2027. Robles was eligible for free agency this fall.
Robles has made a significant impact since signing with the Mariners on June 4, just three days after being released by Washington. Initially, the 27-year-old struggled to find playing time, but once he became a regular in the lineup, he played a key role in the Mariners’ postseason push.
Known for his speed, Robles is hitting .303 with seven doubles and three home runs in 42 games since joining Seattle. He has also been the primary center fielder for the past three weeks while Julio Rodríguez was sidelined with an ankle injury.
This signing also gives Seattle stability in their outfield for the upcoming season, which is expected to feature Robles, Rodríguez, and Randy Arozarena, who was acquired from Tampa Bay before the July 30 trade deadline.
Once a top prospect with the Nationals, Robles appeared in just 36 games last season and had a slow start this year, hitting .120 in 14 games before being designated for assignment on May 27. Seattle quickly took the opportunity to sign him for the remainder of the season.
Robles’ role became even more critical after Rodríguez suffered a high ankle sprain on July 21. Robles has started 17 of the 18 games in center field since then, and even with Rodríguez back from the injured list, Robles is expected to continue in center field for the foreseeable future.
