Months after announcing his retirement from football, Logan Ryan is stepping into a new role as a commentator for the upcoming season.

The former Rutgers standout and NFL veteran, best known for his time with the New England Patriots and the New York Giants, has joined CBS Sports Network’s team of analysts for the 2024 college football season, as announced by the network on Monday morning.

Ryan will serve as an analyst on CBS Sports Network, primarily working alongside play-by-play announcer Jordan Kent. Their first broadcast together will be on August 29, covering the game between Jacksonville State and Coastal Carolina.

Ryan follows in the footsteps of fellow Rutgers alumni Devin and Jason McCourty, who have also transitioned into media roles after retiring from the NFL.

Ryan, who announced his retirement in April, concluded an 11-year NFL career that included two Super Bowl championships with the New England Patriots. He was drafted in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Patriots and spent the first four years of his career with the team.

He later played for the Tennessee Titans, served as a captain for the Giants, and also had stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the San Francisco 49ers. Over his 154 NFL games, Ryan accumulated 755 tackles, 19 interceptions, 13 sacks, 14 forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and one defensive touchdown.

A South Jersey native, Ryan was a four-star recruit from Eastern High School when he committed to play for Greg Schiano at Rutgers. By his junior year, he earned first-team All-Big East honors, which led him to declare for the NFL Draft, foregoing his senior season.

Now, more than a decade later, Ryan is returning to the college football scene, this time with a fresh perspective from the broadcast booth.
