DEAL DONE: Penn State Athletics announces $25 million for project
Penn State has announced its second-largest donation in athletics history, according to a press release issued Wednesday afternoon. The $25 million contribution from the Misitano Family and PAM Health will support the ongoing $700 million renovation of Beaver Stadium.
Upon completion, the new West Tower, which will be named after the Misitano family, will feature a 59,000-square-foot event space, a university welcome center, private luxury suites, lodge boxes, and club seating.
Anthony Misitano, a 1977 Penn State graduate and CEO of PAM Health, expressed his pride in supporting the Beaver Stadium Revitalization project, emphasizing the importance of the renovations for the university, its community, and the state of Pennsylvania. He highlighted his family’s longstanding connection to Penn State and their commitment to its programs.
The Misitano family has previously made notable donations to the Football Excellence Fund and provided endowments for field hockey, women’s hockey, and women’s basketball scholarships.
In May, Penn State’s Board of Trustees approved the renovation plans, aiming to complete them before the start of the 2027 college football season. A preliminary $70 million portion of the project was approved in January, with some aspects expected to be ready for the 2024 season.
Recent updates include improved winterization, enhancements to gates A, E, and F, and videoboard and ribbon board upgrades, all set to be completed by the Sept. 7 home opener. Escalators at gates A and E and new super ribbon boards are expected to be finished during the season, with additional operational improvements to be announced before the opener.
Penn State Athletic Director Pat Kraft praised the Misitano family and PAM Health for their generous support, acknowledging their significant contributions to Penn State Athletics and their role in making Beaver Stadium even more iconic.
