DEAL: Orlando Magic East Rival On Verge Of Making $30 Million Move
The Eastern Conference isn’t just about teams like the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks. The Orlando Magic also made waves in the 2023-24 NBA season with a significant leap forward. A major factor in the Magic’s progress last season was former Gonzaga Bulldogs standout, Jalen Suggs.
Milwaukee Bucks’ East Rival Could Sign Guard Soon To Huge Extension
Currently, Jalen Suggs is under a guaranteed contract for the 2024-25 season after the Magic exercised his club option, securing him for $9.19 million. However, according to Evan Sidery of Forbes Sports, Suggs is likely to secure a substantial extension from Orlando before the October deadline.
Suggs is a prime candidate for an extension ahead of the October 21 deadline, with projections suggesting he could command over $30 million annually, based on the current market. He’s considered a cornerstone of the Magic’s future alongside Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner.
The Magic are an ascending force in the Eastern Conference and could soon be challenging top contenders like the Bucks, potentially as early as the upcoming season. They aim to build on their 47-35 record from the 2023-24 season, which saw them return to the playoffs for the first time since 2020. Their 47 wins marked their best season since the Dwight Howard-led squad went 52-30 in 2010-11. Last season, Suggs, the Magic’s fifth overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, averaged 12.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.7 assists across 75 games.
