Deal Done: Miami Hurricanes Land Commitment From Five-Star Edge Rusher
The Miami Hurricanes are still actively recruiting. Mykah Newton, a three-star edge rusher, made a verbal commitment on Friday. Newton, who attended Newberry High School, had previously committed to NC State. Newton announced his decision on his X account with the words “THE UUUUUUUU,” followed by an alternating green and orange heart. “A Dream Come True—I’m Coming to the U! Let’s not talk about it; we’ll just work and win!” The Hurricanes have 21 commits in their 2025 recruiting class. Seven of the 21 have committed in the last two months, including Las Vegas Bishop Gorman offensive lineman. Seuseu Alofaituli, Bradenton IMG Academy linebacker Gavin Nix, Jacksonville Mandarin athlete Hylton Stubbs, New Iberia (Louisiana) Westgate cornerback Jaboree Antoine, Phenix City Central wide receiver Daylyn Upshaw, and Chaminade-Madonna defensive lineman Donta Simpson. Newton is the second edge rusher in Miami’s 2025 class, behind three-star Herbert Scroggins.
