DONE DEAL: Magic superstar Signs In France
Former Orlando Magic forward Admiral Schofield has joined French club ASVEL Basket, as announced by the team in a press release.
Schofield, 27, stands at 6-foot-5 and participated in 23 games with the Magic last season. Over the past two seasons, he appeared in 75 games, all with Orlando. His NBA journey began with the Wizards during the 2019-20 season, where he played in 33 games.
Selected 49th overall in the 2019 NBA Draft, Schofield has averaged 3.3 points and 1.6 rebounds in his NBA career. He also has extensive experience in the G League.
ASVEL could benefit from Schofield’s addition, as noted by Johnny Askounis of Eurohoops.
“(Schofield) became the second summer acquisition for the team led by NBA legend Tony Parker and coached by Pierric Poupet, following the signing of 25-year-old Neal Sako,” Askounis wrote. “Charles Kahudi, Joffrey Lauvergne, and David Lighty are also signed for the 2024-25 season.
“Last season, ASVEL recorded a 9-25 record, placing 17th out of 18 teams in the EuroLeague. The domestic season concluded with a loss to Paris in the Semifinals of France’s Betclic Elite Playoffs.”
In addition to the names mentioned, the ASVEL roster features former NBA players Theo Maledon, Melvin Ajinca, Tarik Black, and Shaquille Harrison, all of whom, along with Schofield, are new to the team this season. Former NBA guard Nando De Colo also extended his contract with the club this offseason.
Meanwhile, former NBA forwards Mike Scott and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot have departed, along with former Ohio State star Deshaun Thomas, who is currently a free agent.
