BREAKING: Kansas State Wildcats offensive lineman announces retirement from football
When he first arrived at Kansas State, there was a lot of excitement and hope that he would follow in the footsteps of his older brother, Cooper, and become a standout offensive lineman for the Wildcats. Unfortunately, that dream has been cut short. On Monday, a 6-foot-3, 348-pound redshirt freshman from Kansas City, announced his retirement from football due to medical reasons. Instead of paving the way for quarterback Avery Johnson this season, he now plans to contribute to the Wildcats as a student coach.
“No matter how hard you work or how badly you want something, sometimes God has other plans,” He shared in a heartfelt message on social media. “When I started playing football at a very young age, I always dreamed of playing at the highest level. Unfortunately, due to a medical issue, I can no longer live that dream and have decided to medically retire.”
He committed to Kansas State with hopes of emulating his brother Cooper, who became one of the best offensive linemen in the school’s history. Cooper Beebe, who was recently drafted by the Dallas Cowboys and is currently playing for them at center, set a high standard for his younger brother to follow. Camden showed immense potential during his time playing offensive line for Piper High School and later during practices at Kansas State. However, the medical issue has brought an untimely end to his aspirations of pursuing a football career.
Camden Beebe made the difficult decision to announce his retirement just under two weeks before the Wildcats’ season opener against Tennessee-Martin on August 31 at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. Had he been healthy, he could have continued to develop his skills and potentially made a significant impact for Kansas State in the future.
“This is the hardest decision I have ever had to make,” Camden expressed. “I want to thank my family, coaches, and staff for supporting me through this decision. Especially the training staff for doing everything they could to try to get me back on the field.”
He concluded his retirement announcement with a heartfelt message to the Kansas State community. “Thank you to the K-State family for everything,” he wrote. “Forever and always a Wildcat.”
While Camden Beebe’s football journey may have ended prematurely, his contributions to the Kansas State football program will continue in a new capacity, and his Wildcat legacy remains strong.
