Just In: Eagles QB Perfect Summer Comes To Abrupt End
On August 7, Jalen Hurts, the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback, set a training camp record by completing 158 consecutive passes without an interception, marking his 26th birthday.
The two-time Pro Bowler had nearly doubled this streak before cornerback Darius Slay ended his flawless run on the final day of camp.

He won’t have the perfect training camp but to go 305 consecutive throws without an interception is truly remarkable
Instantly becomes one of the hardest records to break in Philly sports

According to Eliot Shorr-Parks of 94WIP.com, after his interception, Jalen Hurts responded by completing 7 of 9 passes, including a touchdown and two impressive sideline throws. He also connected with running back Kenneth Gainwell for a score and threw a perfect 35-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver DeVonta Smith, which was likely his final throw of training camp.
In his first two full seasons as a starter (2021 and 2022), Hurts threw just 15 interceptions. In 2022, he set career highs with a 66.5% completion rate, a 101.5 passer rating, 3,701 passing yards, and 22 touchdowns, while throwing only six interceptions. He ranked fourth in the NFL in passer rating and interception percentage (1.3%), earned his first Pro Bowl selection, and finished third in AP Offensive Player of the Year voting. He also guided the Eagles to Super Bowl LVII, where they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs.
However, 2023 saw a decline as the Eagles’ win total dropped from 14 to 11, and they were ousted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC wild-card round. Despite posting career highs in passing yards (3,858) and touchdowns (23) while playing all 17 games, Hurts’ passer rating fell to 89.1, and he threw 15 interceptions, matching his total from the previous two years combined and ranking third in the NFL.
Looking ahead, Hurts appears to be in top form this summer. The Eagles’ offense is well-stocked with returning wide receivers DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown, tight end Dallas Goedert, and new addition Saquon Barkley, a two-time Pro Bowler. Hurts aims to rebound from a challenging 2023 season and lead the Eagles to their first Super Bowl title in seven years.
