BREAKING: 5-Star OT Confirms Commits to Texas over USC, Georgia and Iowa
The Texas Longhorns scored a significant commitment on Friday with five-star offensive tackle from Grayson (Loganville, GA) joining their 2025 recruiting class, marking the 17th commitment for that year.
His decision comes just two days after Texas lost out on five-star offensive tackle Michael Fasusi to rival Oklahoma, making this a notable win for coaches Kyle Flood and Steve Sarkisian. Brooks chose Texas over USC, Georgia, and Iowa, citing the opportunity for early playing time as a key factor in his decision.
“I want to compete for early playing time, and that was the top reason for my commitment,” Brooks shared with On3. “NIL is also important to me, followed by relationships, family, and how I feel about the school. Family is crucial, so the school that makes my family and me feel the best was a major consideration.”
At 6-foot-7 and 360 pounds, Brooks is comparable to current Longhorns right tackle Cameron Williams due to his dominance in the run game and ability to serve as a powerful blocker, though he is less athletic than Kelvin Banks.
Brooks possesses the talent to contribute immediately and compete for a role on either side of the line when he arrives on campus. He is currently ranked as a four-star recruit, the No. 208 player nationally, the No. 17 offensive tackle, and the No. 30 player in Georgia.
