While some Florida Gators commits began their high school football season last week, the majority are just now kicking off their season this weekend. A few others won’t start for a little while longer, but overall, the high school season is getting underway nationwide. Many Florida commits are set to play this weekend to start their regular season. Here’s a look at the schedule for UF’s 2025 and 2026 commits.

**2025 Commits:**

– **Vernell Brown III, 4-star WR** – Orlando (Fla.) Jones: The regular season starts at home against Winter Park (Fla.). Brown shined in his preseason game, scoring twice, including an 85-yard punt return, and finishing with 102 receiving yards on four catches and a touchdown. Last season, he totaled 1,363 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns, with four more scores on punt/kick returns.

– **Jalen Wiggins, 4-star Edge** – Tallahassee (Fla.) James Rickards: The season opener is at home against Tallahassee (Fla.) Godby. Last season, Wiggins recorded 32 tackles (2 TFL) and three sacks.

– **Ben Hanks Jr., 4-star CB** – Miami (Fla.) Booker T. Washington: Opened the season with a 14-0 win over South Dade. As a junior, Hanks tallied 38 tackles, six interceptions (three returned for touchdowns), three blocked field goals, and a fumble return for a touchdown.

– **Waltez Clark, 4-star RB** – Tampa (Fla.) Plant: The season starts on the road against Carrollwood Day. In the preseason game, Clark scored an 8-yard rushing touchdown and a 74-yard kickoff return. Last season, he accounted for 476 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns, 358 receiving yards and four touchdowns, and a kickoff return touchdown.

– **Myles Johnson, 4-star LB** – Brewton (AL) T.R. Miller: Opened the season with a 28-7 win over Reeltown. Johnson, who plays both linebacker and running back, missed most of last season due to injury but is fully recovered now.

– **Demetres Samuel Jr., 4-star S** – Palm Bay (Fla.) Heritage: The season opener is on the road against Palm Bay. In the preseason game, Samuel scored as a receiver. Last season, he recorded five interceptions as a sophomore. He recently reclassified from the 2026 class to the 2025 class.

– **Joshua Moore, 3-star WR** – Pembroke Pines (Fla.) West Broward: The season starts at home against South Broward. Last season, Moore caught 50 passes for 835 yards and nine touchdowns, adding a rushing touchdown as well.

– **Tae’shaun Gelsey, 3-star TE** – Jacksonville (Fla.) Riverside: The season opener is against Oakleaf. Gelsey scored twice in the preseason game, finishing last season with 48 catches for 859 yards and nine touchdowns.

– **Micah Jones, 3-star TE** – Madison (MS) Central: The season doesn’t begin until September 6.

– **Chad Gasper, 3-star RB** – Fulshear (TX) Katy Jordan: The season starts next week.

– **Jeramiah McCloud, 3-star DL** – Leesburg (GA) Lee County: The team is 1-0 and hosts Hapeville Charter on Friday night. McCloud recorded 13 tackles (4 TFL) and a QB hurry in last week’s win.

– **Joseph Mbatchou, 3-star DL** – Loganville (GA) Grayson: The team is 1-1, having won 15-14 in overtime on Thursday. Mbatchou had one tackle in the week 1 loss. Stats from week 2 are not yet available.

– **Hayden Craig, 3-star P** – Bridgton (ME) Academy: The season starts on September 8.

**2026 Commits:**

– **Will Griffin, 4-star QB** – Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit: The season opener is a big game against Fort Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot. Griffin scored twice on the ground in the preseason game and threw for 3,404 yards, 34 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions as a sophomore last season.

– **Jaelen Waters, 4-star CB** – Seffner (Fla.) Armwood: The season opener is on the road against Gaither. Waters, who could face 2026 FSU WR commit Darryon Williams, had 20 tackles last season as a sophomore.

– **Devin Jackson, 3-star S** – Orlando (Fla.) First Academy: The season opened on Thursday with a win over Lipscomb Academy.
