JUST IN: Yankees Sign crucial deal that make Aaron Judge skeptical about Yankees
The Yankees have announced that Phil Bickford has returned to the team with a new Major League contract and has been added to the active roster. To make room for him, right-hander Michael Tonkin was designated for assignment.
Bickford initially signed with the Yankees on a minor league contract in April. After being promoted to the big league roster in late June, he struggled with a 14.40 ERA over five innings in five appearances, leading to his designation for assignment. When he cleared waivers in July, Bickford chose free agency instead of an assignment to Triple-A. Now, he’s back with the Yankees after spending nearly eight weeks on the open market.
