BOOOOM! Five-star commits to Ohio State after losing WR 5-star in transfer portal
After several weeks of concerning developments regarding Ohio State’s 2025 recruiting class, even though it still holds the top national ranking, the Buckeyes received some positive news this weekend with a new commitment on the offensive line. On Saturday, five-star lineman Jayvon McFadden announced his decision to join Ohio State.
Maryland native Jayvon McFadden is currently ranked as the No. 25 interior offensive lineman in the nation and the No. 11 player in his state, according to the 247Sports Composite. The 6-foot-5, 300-pound lineman had around 30 offers but narrowed his choices down to four schools before making his decision. Ohio State emerged victorious over Colorado, Maryland, and South Carolina, with the Buckeyes being the only school he took an official visit to.
Throughout his recruitment, McFadden visited Columbus multiple times. He was on campus for the Michigan State game last season when he first received his Ohio State offer. He returned earlier this year for the Buckeyes’ spring game and made his last visit for his official on June 7. While some expected him to commit during that trip, McFadden took his time and ultimately chose Ohio State this past weekend.
Although McFadden is listed as an interior lineman, he has experience playing both guard and tackle for Riverdale Baptist. He is expected to project as a guard at the next level, though his size could allow for some potential at tackle, depending on his development. Either way, McFadden adds another valuable asset to Ohio State’s offensive line in this recruiting cycle, joining fellow linemen Carter Lowe and Jake Cook.
