The Philadelphia Eagles have made headlines with their offseason moves, particularly by bringing in Saquon Barkley from the New York Giants. After a tough end to the 2023 season, the Eagles are looking to bounce back strong, and adding Barkley is a significant step in that direction. With the 2024 NFL season about to kick off, roster cuts are happening across the league as teams finalize their lineups, making this an exciting and crucial time for all 32 teams. The Ravens and Chiefs opening the season sets the stage for what should be an action-packed year.

With Barkley now in the fold and Philadelphia appearing to make all the right moves during the offseason, the Eagles may be able to rebound with a vengeance in 2024, but the team will have to make some difficult personnel decisions before Week 1.

On Monday, the team revealed via Twitter that it had parted ways with four players, the most noteworthy of which was quarterback Will Grier.

Although the Eagles are firmly Jalen Hurts’ team for the foreseeable future, concerns about the quarterback position linger, particularly in terms of having reliable backup options given Hurts’ style of play.

The team needed to make a prudent decision to ensure solid depth, especially with Kenny Pickett, a recent acquisition, yet to prove that the trade for him was justified.

Despite his underwhelming performance so far in Philadelphia, Pickett remains Hurts’ primary backup, while Tanner McKee holds the third-string position following Grier’s release.
