DONE DEAL: Carolina Hurricanes sign another Manager

RALEIGH, N.C. – Eric Tulsky, General Manager of the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes, announced today that Tyler Dellow has been appointed as Assistant General Manager. Additionally, Darren Yorke has been elevated to Associate General Manager and will take on the role of General Manager for the Chicago Wolves, Carolina’s AHL affiliate.

“Tyler possesses an encyclopedic understanding of hockey data and excels at creatively and meticulously applying it to enhance performance and tactics,” said Tulsky. “He is also an experienced attorney with a background in negotiation and a strategic mindset that considers the broader perspective. Tyler is a capable manager who is deeply committed to employee development.

“Darren has played a crucial role in revamping our drafting and player development processes. He has a sharp eye for talent and a comprehensive grasp of organizational operations. I have complete confidence that Darren is ready for this expanded role, and I am honored to work alongside him, Tyler, and the rest of our hockey operations team as we pursue our goal of bringing the Stanley Cup back to Raleigh.”

In his role as Assistant General Manager, Dellow will oversee data analysis and ensure compliance with the NHL’s salary cap and collective bargaining agreement. He spent the last five seasons with the New Jersey Devils, most recently as Senior Vice President of Hockey Strategy and Analytics. Dellow also served as an analytics consultant for the Edmonton Oilers from 2014 to 2016 and was a staff writer for The Athletic, focusing on hockey analytics, between his roles in New Jersey and Edmonton. He earned his law degree from the University of Toronto and practiced civil litigation before transitioning to hockey. Dellow also founded mc79hockey.com, a prominent analytics-based hockey blog that helped integrate data analysis into mainstream hockey discourse.

As Associate General Manager, Yorke will continue to play a key role in player personnel decisions, overseeing amateur scouting, player development, and the team’s draft. As General Manager of the Chicago Wolves, he will manage the day-to-day hockey operations of Carolina’s AHL affiliate. Entering his 16th season with the Hurricanes, Yorke began with the organization as a video scout in 2009, later serving as Manager of Scouting, Director of Player Personnel, and most recently, Assistant General Manager (2021-24). A native of Milton, Ontario, Yorke graduated with honors in sports management from Brock University in 2008 and previously worked with the Buffalo Sabres and TSN.
