ICYMI: 5-Star WR Commits to Florida Over Ohio State, FSU, Miami
The Florida Gators secured an important recruiting victory on Sunday. Wide receiver, ranked as a 5-star prospect by 247Sports’ composite rankings and listed as the No. 25 overall player and No. 6 wide receiver in the 2025 class, committed to the Gators over Ohio State, Florida State, and Miami, according to Manny Navarro of The Athletic.
Family connections played a role in Brown’s decision, as his father, was a cornerback for the Gators and previously served as the program’s senior director of player development.
“Everyone supported my decision, but they would have supported me no matter where I went,” Brown said, according to John Garcia Jr. of Rivals. “With their ties to the University, it might have felt a bit different for them, but this was my journey, and it had nothing to do with their past. Ultimately, I chose Florida because that’s where I wanted to be. Picking one school was tough, but there’s a sense of relief now. You make your choice, and you stick with it.”
This commitment is encouraging news for Florida, which currently ranks 62nd in 247Sports’ composite rankings for the 2025 recruiting cycle—positioned between Louisville and Illinois, programs that are not the kind Florida should be competing with if they aim to challenge powerhouse programs like Alabama, Georgia, LSU, and Texas in the highly competitive SEC.
Brown’s commitment could provide the Gators with some much-needed recruiting momentum as they continue to build their class. His talent, including game-changing speed and the ability to excel in the slot, could allow him to make an immediate impact on the field. If he fulfills his potential, this could be a crucial long-term win for Florida’s recruiting efforts.
