Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark continues her impressive start to her WNBA career, earning yet another league accolade and receiving praise from her team.
After the extended break for the Paris Olympics, Clark returned in top form, leading her team to a 2-1 record in the first week back and scoring 20 or more points in all three games.
On Tuesday, Clark was named the WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week. In a press release, the team highlighted her impressive averages of 25.0 points, 9.0 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per game over the past week, along with several new records.
“Last week, Clark became the franchise’s rookie leader in made 3-pointers with 81, surpassed Ticha Penicheiro’s record of 224 assists to become the WNBA’s all-time rookie assist leader, and joined Aliyah Boston and Tamika Catchings as the only players in franchise history to score at least 500 points in a rookie season,” the team stated.
Following the announcement, the Fever shared their admiration for Clark’s “fire” performance on social media.
“Caitlin Clark is the @WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week! She scored 20+ points in all three of our games,” the team posted on X, punctuated by a fire emoji.
Clark, who has already been named WNBA Rookie of the Month in May and July, could be in line for her third award of the season with this latest honor.
