ICYMI: Penn State WR 5-star confirm departure after releasing sign deal with New York Giants
Former Penn State star Allen Robinson is now searching for a new NFL team after being released by the New York Giants, as reported by NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero.
Robinson, a veteran wide receiver with 10 years in the NFL, joined the Giants in May but didn’t survive the team’s initial roster cuts as they trimmed down to 53 players.
During his time at Penn State, Robinson made his mark by ranking fourth in career receptions (177) and fifth in receiving yards (2,474). His 2013 season, where he set single-season records with 97 catches and 1,432 yards, remains a highlight, along with his memorable leaping catch in the four-overtime victory against Michigan.
Drafted in the second round by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2014, Robinson notched 202 receptions, 2,848 yards, and 22 touchdowns during his time there, earning a Pro Bowl selection in 2015. He later signed with the Chicago Bears in 2018, adding 293 catches, 3,561 yards, and 18 touchdowns to his career stats over four seasons.
In 2022, Robinson joined the Los Angeles Rams, but his tenure was cut short by a foot injury. He was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2023, playing every game last season before being released in March.
Given his experience and past performance, Robinson is expected to find another opportunity in the NFL. His next destination, however, remains to be seen.
