INJURY UPDATE: Broncos’ Veteran LB To Undergo ACL Surgery
He who was recently joined the Denver Broncos, now faces a significant challenge that could jeopardize his football career: another ACL surgery. He announced on Instagram that he will undergo his second ACL surgery in the last 13 months. This follows an ACL repair from last August, which was required after he tore his ACL during practice. The upcoming surgery will be on the same knee.
In his Instagram post, He expressed his mixed emotions:
“As I prepare for my 2nd ACL surgery on the same knee in the last year, part of me questions, ‘Why would this happen to me again?’ and the other part of me knows that God wouldn’t give me anything in life that I couldn’t handle,” Griffith He wrote. “I’m heartbroken, angry, and confused, especially knowing I didn’t skip any steps during my recovery to get to this point. I also know that my story with football is far from over, and I will be a better me because of this challenge. I am healthy (for the most part), I have so much love in my corner, and I’m alive! There’s still so much to be thankful for, and there are others going through more difficult things! Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers.”
He had been active throughout the offseason and preseason, even participating in the Broncos’ preseason finale last Sunday. He was competing for a starting position at inside linebacker alongside Alex Singleton, sharing first-team reps with Cody Barton and occasionally Levelle Bailey, who is expected to join the practice squad after passing through waivers on Friday.
His efforts this spring and summer came after his initial ACL tear last August, which prematurely ended his 2023 season. He was trying to make a comeback following a foot injury that limited him to nine games in the 2022 season, eight of which he started.
