ROSTER UPDATE: Dallas Cowboys Will Replace Dak Prescott with $5 Million QB
One former NFL general manager believes this is Dak Prescott’s final season with the Dallas Cowboys.
It is no secret that contract negotiations between Prescott and the Cowboys have been rocky, to say the least. This past week, the Cowboys took digs at the team’s owner, making things even stranger.
Dak Prescott Takes Show At Owner Jerry Jones
Dak Prescott has long sought the massive contract he believes he deserves, given his outstanding regular-season performances. However, his postseason track record tells a different story. As time passes, it increasingly appears that Dak might be playing for a different team in 2025. A former general manager, reacting to Dak’s recent comments, believes the Cowboys could be heading in a new direction.
According to a report on Gridiron, Jerry Jones recently addressed Dak’s contract situation:
“I’m a huge fan of Dak. I appreciate all the great things he brings, especially his work ethic. I can’t express how proud I am to have him leading our team this season. … For me, Dak’s situation is more about our team’s circumstances than Dak’s abilities as the Cowboys’ quarterback.”
In response, Dak said:
“I stopped paying attention to what Jerry Jones says to the media a long time ago. His words don’t really matter to me.”
These negotiations seem to be hitting a rough patch, and despite Jerry’s long-standing claims of wanting Dak to stay, it might just be empty promises. As the saying goes, actions speak louder than words, and Dak’s tenure with the Cowboys could be nearing its end.
Sheduer Sanders Will Replace Dak Prescott For The Dallas Cowboys
Former general manager Mike Tannenbaum has confidently predicted that the Dallas Cowboys will draft Shedeur Sanders in 2025 to replace Dak Prescott as their starting quarterback. Although opinions on Sanders vary, Tannenbaum believes he could still be available later in the draft, especially if Dallas makes a postseason run this year. Given the current state of contract negotiations, a long-term deal for Dak seems increasingly unlikely. Tannenbaum sees Sanders as a more probable starter in Dallas than Prescott.
“There’s a better chance, in my opinion, that Shedeur Sanders could be the quarterback [for the Cowboys] next year than Dak Prescott at this point,” Tannenbaum declared.
Tannenbaum’s bold statement has left both fans and analysts puzzled, as the scenario he envisions would require a series of unlikely events. Some fans even went so far as to suggest he should be drug tested for making such a prediction.
