Danny Jansen was brought to the Boston Red Sox to provide a much-needed boost as a right-handed bat, particularly one suited for Fenway Park’s hitter-friendly dimensions. However, his offensive production has fallen short of expectations, with a .204 average, five RBIs, and only two extra-base hits through his first 19 games with the team.

Manager Alex Cora didn’t shy away from critiquing Jansen’s performance, highlighting the catcher’s struggles with finishing at-bats as part of the broader offensive issues plaguing the team.

The Red Sox have been in a slump, as evidenced by their lackluster performance over Labor Day weekend, where they managed just one run in each of their last three games. Despite these setbacks, Boston remains in the hunt for the final American League wild-card spot, sitting 4 1/2 games back as of Tuesday.

The team will need Jansen and the rest of the lineup to step up as they continue their series against the New York Mets, with hopes of reigniting their offense and making a strong push toward the postseason.
