DONE JUST NOW: Clemson football’s 20-years old QB 5-star issues commitment after brutal loss
The No. 14 Clemson Tigers suffered a decisive 34-3 defeat against the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs. After the game, Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik made a bold statement despite the tough start to the season.
“For the guys in that room, when they leave Clemson one day, I want those guys, if it’s the only thing that they remember, you remember me as somebody that never quit on them,” Klubnik shared via Chapel Fowler on X.
Klubnik has faced significant challenges since becoming the Tigers’ starting quarterback. In 2022, Clemson seemed to be on the right path with D.J. Uiagalelei at the helm, finishing the season with a 10-3 record and an appearance in the Orange Bowl, where they lost 31-14 to Tennessee. The following year, after Uiagalelei entered the transfer portal, Klubnik took over as QB1. However, Clemson had a subpar season by its standards, finishing 9-4, with all four losses coming in ACC play.
Can Clemson Football and Cade Klubnik rally after brutal loss?
Since Trevor Lawrence’s departure, Clemson has struggled with inconsistent quarterback play. While the Tigers have continued to make bowl games, they’re accustomed to competing in the College Football Playoff and contending for National Championships. Despite the challenges during the tenures of D.J. Uiagalelei and now Cade Klubnik, head coach Dabo Swinney has consistently expressed confidence in Klubnik, praising his passion for the game and his commitment to his team and teammates.
After a humbling loss to the Bulldogs, another lesson was learned. In a newly revamped ACC, Clemson faces tough competition from teams like No. 10 Florida State and No. 19 Miami Hurricanes. The Tigers will need to rely on each other to climb back to the top of the NCAA Football landscape.
“I hope they remember that now, and I hope they remember that last year when we were 4-4 and I never quit on them. I’ll never quit on them now. I told them that when I show up on Monday, I’ll have more energy than ever before, as if we haven’t even played a game yet. I’m never quitting on this team, and I challenge them to never quit on me and never quit on each other.”
