UNC Football: After Zavion Griffin-Haynes’ Commitment, ’26 Five-Star CB Flips From Florida To Tar Heels
North Carolina’s home opener resulted in a second 2026 commitment over the weekend, as Florida cornerback announced his pledge to UNC on Monday night.
“North Carolina has always been my dream school,” Odem said. “So, it was just very exciting when they offered and invited me to the game.”
Charlton Warren, the Tar Heels’ defensive backs coach, offered Odem—a 6-foot-1, 170-pound prospect—during Orlando (Fla.) The First Academy’s participation in UNC’s 7-on-7 team camp on June 12.
The First Academy also attended camps at several other schools, including Charlotte, Duke, East Carolina, Liberty, NC State, South Carolina, and UCF. Liberty and UCF joined UNC in extending offers based on Odem’s performance, and he also holds an offer from Ole Miss.
Originally from Western Pennsylvania, Odem and his family moved to Orlando this offseason. Three games into his junior year, he ranks third in tackles for The First Academy with 24 and is one of two players with an interception.
On Sunday, four-star edge rusher Zavion Griffin-Haynes also committed to UNC, following his visit to Saturday’s game. Odem and Griffin-Haynes join mid-three-star quarterback Zaid Lott as part of the Tar Heels’ 2026 commitment class.
